Remember finding that bird
skeleton when you were six? Playing with a broken crab's claw at the
beach? Marvelling at a lizard's lost tail?
There's something of that fascination in the jewellery of Brisbane artist and scientist Luke Maninov.
Tiny talons, puckered skin, little seed pods, casts of twigs - Maninov's forms are textured and organic. And, while they're a little bit dark, his pieces stop short of being macabre because they are so delicately rendered. Instead, they celebrate the beauty in small scraps of nature that we tend to overlook.
