If you've had the pleasure of
nosing around Melbourne's Rose Street Artists Market you may have
stumbled across the miniature worlds of Neil Thomas.
tenderly crafted little human figures negotiate environments built
inside old cigarette tins. Whimsical
and sometimes melancholy, the dioramas recall childhood (dollhouses, train sets,
cubby houses, rabbit holes) but also speak about adulthood; their
nostalgic tin cases can be gently shut, or prised open for a glimpse
into an imaginary world.
Jeremy Beasley's made this lovely video about Neil.
